Conformal Coating

The DC 2000 is a small, laboratory batch coating system designed for the high precision application of conformal coatings.

A pneumatic air-over-oil system ensures that the substrate carrier exhibits a smooth “judder-free” motion during the immersion and withdrawal strokes.
Its speed can be adjusted with great accuracy to suit the viscosity of a wide range of materials. This produces an extremely smooth and even finished coating result.

The DC 2000 is ideally suited to low volume producers and can be easily adapted to run with many different types of coating.

The DC2002 is a safe, easy to use, medium to high volume batch coating system. It is designed for the application of electronics conformal coatings by high precision dipping.

The DC2002 features a unique Oleo-pneumatic circuit that permits unparalleled precision. The regulated speed control is able to operate down to speeds of less than 1mm/minute and provide coatings down to just 200nm in thickness. This is also achieved over the entire coating stroke to an accuracy of better than ±3%.

This enables the system to successfully apply special surface coatings to PCB assemblies.

The Oleo-pneumatic circuit allows the substrate carrier to operate in a smooth, “judder-free” motion for both the immersion and withdrawal strokes whose speed can be independently set by the user.

Being entirely air-driven, the DC 2002 system is also safe to use with even the most flammable materials.

Options include: automatic viscosity control, solvent/material replenishment, and flammable gas detection.

The SB2900 has been specially designed for the application of conformal coatings to Printed Circuit Assemblies (PCAs) by batch spraying. It features an ergonomic design to minimise operator fatigue, while providing greater control of the spray gun position and direction. This limits overspray and unnecessary material wastage.

The SB2900 can be equipped with explosion-proof UV light and/or white light and employs a hands-free, rotating table for total 360° visual inspection.

The spray chamber also has a restricted opening and downward extraction plenum chamber, thus limiting operator exposure to solvent vapour. To ensure optimum filtration efficiency, the primary, secondary and tertiary filters are all easily replaceable.

A standard 10 litre pressure pot feed system can be supplied with pre-blended material to minimise filling downtime, along with semiautomatic purging and cleaning of the sprayhead.

An integrated storage space beneath the booth is provided for material and purging solvent pressure pots, the spray gun and face masks, etc.

The SB2900 is specifically designed to work with highly flammable materials.

This system is designed for 24/7 production needs and suits small to large PCB sizes. The new SCS Precision UVC cure unit offers tubular full-spectrum UV curing in perfect integration with the SCS Precisioncoat Spray Coating Systems. The Precision UVC has a full spectrum mercury UV source with three intensity settings and covers a cure zone 24 inches wide (61 cm) at an intensity of 300 W/in (118 W/cm). The unit cures a wide variety of UV curable coatings as well as inks, solder masks and other materials. The Precision UVC has optional automatic conveyor width adjustment.

The new SCS Precision IRT cure oven is designed to safely and quickly cure a wide variety of coatings (high and low-solvent coatings and adhesives) using both convection and long-wave Infrared (IR) heat sources. The oven features a four-corner pneumatic lift for convenient access to the process cavity from both sides of the system for easy cleaning and maintenance. The SCS Precision IRT mates seamlessly with SCS Precisioncoat selective spray coating systems.

The UV Inspection and Rework Booth is designed to assist in the inspection, repair and/or reworking of conformal coated electronic circuit assemblies.

As all qualified conformal coatings contain a UV tracer, the coating glows bright blue under the UV light source, making inspection simpler and more effective.

The unit is constructed upon a frame of profiled aluminium and solvent resistant, precoated sheet metal panels.

A long wave UV lamp (610 mm in length) is fitted inside the top panel along with a UV shield. This ensures that the operator’s eyes are protected from the emitted UV light for maximum safety.

An anti-static mat complete with antistatic earthing points is supplied fitted to the workbase, and an exhaust spigot is located centrally to the rear panel for connection to an external exhaust duct. The spigot measures 25 x 80 mm in diameter. Lamp life is approximately 4000 hours.
