Selective Soldering
If your require selective soldering capability to automate your through hole or SMT soldering processes, we can offer the following innovative solutions to automate your soldering processes.
• Simple benchtop point soldering solutions from Quick Electronics
• Inline Laser point soldering from Beamworks
• Inline Laser SMT Selective Soldering-Rework system from Beamworks
The Quick 9320A is a low cost solder robot simple and easy to use. These systens help lower labor costs for those repeative soldering applications where there are needs for selective soldering and either miniwave machines or selective solder pallets are not possible to use due to lead access, obstacles such as SMT too closed to leads, or pre-soldered high components are near by.
Basic specification
- XYZ Axis Control
- Controlled wire feed
- Programmable blow off for cleaning
- 300mm x 300mm XY movement max
- 100mm Z movement max
- Singe Soldering Head
- Optional Wire Punching feature for reduced
flux blowout (solder splash)
The Quick 9×34 series are like the 9320A series but add additional theta axis control for more flexibility. We have two systems on offer one with small XY area and one with standard 300mm x 300mm area.

The Selectiva Xi is an In-Line Selective Soldering system designed for the mixed SMT / Through-hole assembly industry. The system performs automatic and selective laser soldering of all types of through-hole components (connectors, large capacitors, odd-shaped electronic components).
The system utilizes a power controlled diode laser with closed loop temperature and solder volume control. Soldering is carried out from the bottom of the board, which eliminates the need to flip the board prior to the soldering process, allowing the user to truly incorporate the machine in the SMT line.
Main Benefits
- High Power diode laser (75 W) for reduced soldering time
- Automated in-line operation using CAD and BOM data & JEDEC component library
- Closed loop soldering temperature control allows fast set-up, eliminating temperature profiling of individual solder joints and allows small lot production starting from a single board
- High soldering quality with precise and repeatable heating
- Significant saving of time and money by eliminating the use of protective fixtures
System Features
- Maximum board size – 390 x 380 mm (15.3″ x 14.9″), expendable to 610 x 508 mm (24″ x 20″ – optional)
- Using standard CAD and BOM files and utilizing on-board component library of components geometry
- WIN 2000 operation system and comfortable GUI
- Average Soldering time of 1 sec per Joint
- Full SMEMA support allows in-line operation
- Stand alone operation
The Spark 400 is a multi-process assembly platform designed for assembling low to medium volume PCB lots, automatic rework and prototype assembly. It concurrently performs paste dispensing, component placement and laser soldering (using 4 lasers that work simultaneously and independently), without impacting already assembled components.
Main Benefits
- Closed loop temperature controlled soldering
- No stencil required Spark 400 fully automates rework by selectively dispensing solder paste, placing components and processing reflow without heating neighboring components.
- Flexible operation allows for fast turn around Spark 400 makes production planning easier, e.g. the production plan does not have to be reshuffled for the SMT line if some components do not make it on time because assembly can proceed with one or more missing components.
- Precise heating without impacting adjacent components
- Small footprint
- No baking of moisture sensitive components
- If a certain lead of a given component is connected to power or ground plane, the laser soldering time is longer for that lead than for the adjacent lead not connected to a heat sink.
System Features
- Vision system for auto alignment using board fiducials
- Using standard CAD and BOM files and utilizing on-board component library of components geometry
- Win 2000 operation system and comfortable GUI
- Simultaneous operation of 4 lasers provides high soldering throughput
- Full SMEMA support allows in-line operation
- Either stand alone or in-line operation
